The Wall at Nirvana Surfboards

Photobucket Photobucket This would have have to be the most iconic piece of surf related art from the Central Coast of NSW "The NIRVANA SURFBOARD FACTORY Wall". As a kid in the 80's, I remember going past the factory with my dad in the car and being blown away by the impact, detail, content and colour of this work. Unfortunately, this has been painted over for whatever reason but the memory lives on. Check out the Nirvana website http://www.nirvanasurfboards.com/ and go to the history section for a collection of memorable photos from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Bill Cillia is a legend on the coast who shaped for guys like Ross Clarke Jones, Sanga, Shane Powell, Glen Winton, Sam Chell, Dave Nielson, Adrian "Ace Buchan" and many many more.

Mattson Benefit Night

Mattson Benefit Night Never met these talented cats before but I was happy to donate one of my lino prints for this benefit night. Great artists on the bill helping out for a great cause. Speaking of supportage, I will be donating a a chunk of my earnings at my next solo exhibition I'm having in October to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. This disease took the life of my dad in 2004 so I'd be stoked if you bought anything from this night in Sydney.

12x12 Cluster

Photobucket Great exhibition last week and sold half before Melbourne. I know the cluster formation has been done to death before but I was kinda stumped with setting up these 12 works in a uniform setup. Besides, the random formation works well when you have 12 very different pieces.

Kraken Revisited

Photobucket
Acrylic & Ink on Wooden Box. The original piece was done by Bob Eggleton a long time ago and I loved it so much, I re-created it. If you see the original you might say ripoff but hey...I loved the concept of the giant squids arms drawing the boat down to the depths.

The Early in Colour

Photobucket

The newspaper clippings came from a 1964 Sydney Morning Herald a friend gave to me. There was an advertisement for vacant land at a beach near my home town of Wamberal - Avoca Beach. Through the development and progress of the area, some things still remain "SURFING" The guy on the bike riding to the beach represents all things pure like the sport we love and the community spirit so I placed him riding over the advertising.

Here's Ya 80's

K1K3K2PhotobucketPhotobucket
Some shots from my 1st solo exhibition around 07/08. A tribute to 80's surf/skate graphics and advertising. I recreated my childhood bedroom with mannequin and tribute poster wall and had a huge selection of 80's candy for everyone. My style back then was similar today but I thought this would be a fun way to show the crowd my early influences as an artist.
